In my experience this changes from organisation to organisation slightly. Typically you will have the money before the first. Sometimes up to a week in advance. A lot also depends which bank / payment provider you use.
I'm Sebastian from the UN Job List. I know about the UN Job List and also a little about the UN in general.

I noticed UNDP pays the earliest. If UNDP is processing your payment it usually comes on the 23rd of each month. Other organisations I know of, pay as from 26-28 of the month.

When I had my short appointment with UN DM in New York, Professional Staff had payday around 29th, meaning that money was in your UNFCU account that day if you had other bank then maybe day later. General Staff had pay day maybe week before Ps.

... and if you really are in a pinch you can always ask for a salary advance.

Hello,
I wanted to know when someone can expect to be paid the Settling in Grant (DSA) or Relocation Grant after starting the position (P category).
