Post of limited duration

Post by finsalscollons » 16 Jul 2019, 22:50

Hello, everybody.

I have seen a NO-B job announcement for the PAHO (OMS) for two years (first year probationary period). It says "post of limited duration" and "any appointment/extension of appointment is subject to PAHO Staff Regulations".

What does "post of limited duration" mean? Is this a temporary appointment like the ones described by Sebastian at ... un-system/?

If so, why is the duration two years? (temporary appointments are less than one year). Why does it contemplates "extension of appointment" if the duration is limited?

Thank you for any information,
